There's a bit of a pun in the title of this blog, because if you've had an eye on my social media you'll have seen images of mixed media art which includes keys (oh, and polymer clay, beads and other details too!)

From August 7th you lucky folks will be able to get your hands on 16 pieces of unique art, all at half original price, or better. It's a great time to grab a birthday, well done or even Christmas gift, and feel super organised. Or even just brighten your own space up with something one of a kind.

A few years ago I used some of the same techniques from my jewellery making to create a range of art , but it was too much for me to manage as another thread to Perfidious Jewellery. I carefully boxed it all up, but now the time has come to make space in my Studio - and also, art is made to be seen and loved!

The Art Details

  • Box Frames are pine and glass, oiled or painted, and ready to mount, or stand.
  • Frames are in two sizes:
    • Small: Height: 11.7CM Width: 11.7CM Depth: 3.4CM
    • Large: Height: 19.1CM Width: 19.1CM Depth: 3.2CM
  • The polymer clay is hand cut and textured with lace or sclupting tools, no stamps, molds or cutters are used! The stars glow in the dark.
  • The keys are from Hopkinson's, an antique and vintage shop in Nottingham. Some of the key batch was certainly local, as they had the stamp of a Nottingham taxi company on them!
  • In some pieces, the backing art is a brass rubbing taken at Nottingham Castle, then painted with watercolours.

I LOVE these! Love things using old keys, I always wonder what they were for and why they were no longer needed. I'd be making up stories about each of them!

Thanks Kay! This is why I've used a couple of more modern keys as well, not only the "old fashioned" type, because I think they can be just as beautiful and intriguing.
