I'll admit it, and I bet you may be the same: I'm pretty boring with my hair. I'll find a new favourite style, do it again and again for ages, then find a new style, and get get stuck in that one for ages.

One thing I love is adding an interesting accessory- because even simple styles get exciting when you add some sparkle, or a quirky slide.

It's easy peasy to clip something to the base of your ponytail, and suddenly your  two seconds with a hair bobble has become something people will comment on. Lots of people say "I don't know how to use a hair comb" and the short answer is "Don't use it to keep hair in place, just push it in to decorate what's already in place" (unless you do get clever, and then you can do amazing vintage style hair dos with combs!)

If you dread 'posh' hair - those function occasions when you feel you need to make an effort, but are at a loss what to do - the same rules apply! 

Fascinators can be tricky, and need careful selection to avoid looking like something has exploded from your head. They also can be hard to keep in place over the day. However, a  decorative clip or slide fills a useful function, and also adds the posh element.


Short or unruly hair can be spruced up with a beaded crocodile clip to one side, or an alice band with some sparkle. Long hair can be put in a simple style that you won't feel uncomfortable with, and then clip or push your accessory in place to rock through the day.

Try some things out, and you'll soon find you have another excuse to brighten your outfits and feel great.

Lots of variation on a theme, because you know the styles you like. Perhaps different colours, details, sizes, but all the same basic idea!

Butterfly.
You have a plethora of shapes, designs, styles... studs, dangly ones, colourful , classic... and all get their turn as your perfect pair. ​

Expanding.
They may not have been worn in years, but that pair will be needed again! And well, until then, they can go in the box...

Pruned.
Out of fashion, never really worn, or just eventually out of favour, you're ruthless in getting rid of earrings. It makes space for more...
