You may have spotted Perfidious Jewellery somewhere else, and ended up here as a result *waves* Or you may follow what I do here but not know that I'm all around and about on the old social media! You'll get a personal experience wherever you follow me, as not everything I do is shared or the same on all of the platforms. Personal? Yes! Wherever I post, it's rare for me to just share or port over content directly from another one of my social media feeds; I may use the same idea or image, but usually will create a new post. Also, if I like, reply, or share something form you, it's really me doing it - I have seen it and chosen to react. What does that mean? There's a surprising amount of unsocial social media, such as twitter feeds which are just un-monitored auto-set ups spitting truncated facebook messages out to followers! That doesn't feel social. Don't get me started on twitter feeds where someone pays for a third party to 'find and post curated content', or they have auto replies set up to spam you with a message when you retweet them.
If a creative bod isn't able to sort out the time to personally manage a social media account, I think the smart thing is to either admit that due to your work/life choices you won't be posting often, or just give up on that medium. Would you expect a customer to buy from a shop if they were greeted by a blank face uttering the exact same monotone platitudes every time someone walked in? No, because people like the personal experience, and social media users are looking for the online equivalent to the smiling chatty face that designer makers present at craft fairs. You social media users are savvy enough to know the difference between content carefully created for you, and something an algorithm based bot is punting out. I'm proud to say that every word you read on my social media accounts, I've chosen to put the time and effort into. Social media is all about being sociable, so feel free to share your ideas and comments about my makes, let me know what you like and dislike, and I would LOVE to see and hear about how you are wearing the jewellery and pins you've bought from me. Come along and get sociable, choosing where and how you want to keep tabs on me.

Perfidious Jewellery - er, what now? The Jewellery bit is obvious, but what is Perfidious?
Read on to add a new word to your lingo and impress people in casual conversation! Over 31 days could you share bits of your life with anyone who cares to take a look?
Throughout March, fab designer and illustrator Joanne Hawker encouraged piles of creative folks to bare themselves and their creative businesses on instagram, through her month long challenge called #MarchMeetTheMaker. With a topic each day, the idea was to share a picture representing that topic, and let people get a better idea of what you make, who you are, why you do it and what makes you tick. So, did I manage all 31 days?... |
