I'm feeling a little bit Unikitty at the moment, having had a good look at Perfidious Jewellery and making some decisions about what I'm going to focus on. It's scarily organised of me.
And it means some changes are coming...

You know when you have almost finished a project, and then realise you made a poor choice and have to undo it all? Well when that happened to me last Thursday I was able to laugh it off, thanks to a vat of hot chocolate and being surrounded by other makers and crafters! After talking a few weeks ago about meeting makers, I then somewhat ironically went very introverted for a couple of weeks, quietly enjoying my own space.
With Super & Super’s monthly Stitch and Bitch meet up coming up at Nottingham’s Malt Cross, I decided to push myself out and make an effort, figuring at the very least I'd get a good hot chocolate out of it.
As a maker, it's sometimes easy to be isolated, working on crafts in your space, and perhaps not having friends and family who want to chat about the same things you do. I sort of like that, I gather my energy while alone. But it can work against you when you need a like-minded person to hand!
Let's have a shout out for the networks of creative mates, those supporters and suggesters, the idea bouncers and shooter downers. If they're people you chat with through facebook, a handful of local peeps, or an organised group; they know your small business struggles, and share your creative impulses. How often do you meet them though? |
