It's a little spooky and a little sparkly, so I'm calling this new range of necklaces Spookle! Glittering ghosts, thoughtful witches, symbols of intrigue and loved up skulls, all coming in my new pendant range. Each piece is hand drawn and hand painted with watercolours, including rich metallic painted details, watch the video to see all that sparkle, and they'll all be available from September 4th. I am SO EXCITED finally having my original illustrations in jewellery form, as I've loved drawing for years, before I started making jewellery, and people have often suggested "Could you do something with that?". Becoming An Artiste (imagine a dramatic flourish) was something I always felt a bit above my energy levels, but, these small scale beauties combine the best of both worlds for me - art and jewellery in lovely little packages.

 What's a Spookle then?These pendants are sort of spooky, with hat wearing ghosts, thoughtful witches, symbols of intrigue and (of course) loved up skulls. Each original hand drawn illustration is painted with watercolours, including rich metallic watercolour painted details - which create sparkling sunsets and shimmering highlights.
A little spooky, and a bit sparkly, at the same time? Then it's Spookle! I love a good portmanteau word, where two words get bashed together into a new one. (I confess I'm fond of Twunt as a stellar insult, which makes people stop mid sentence after hearing it, and then usually laugh as they work it out) How other people react when you take up crafty hobbies or start your own creative business can be fascinating - from the well-intentioned questions, to the outright frustrating expectations, your friends and family need time to adapt to your new life choices! My last blog post about 5 ways people react when you start making jewellery got a lot of reactions, with makers and creatives from across different media sharing their own tales of comedy or woe. Some of those situations I've known, some I've never thought about, so I've come back to the topic for a special commenter edition, with 5 (more) ways people react when you make handmade.  1. "Look! You could make this/Could you make me one of these?"It's painful to see your name tagged in a social media post, with someone asking you outright "This is lovely! Could you make me one?". No. Because I have my own ideas, my own styles, and I'm not going to steal the work of another person. Buy it from them!
