Whomever you're thinking of giving a gift to for Galentine or Valentine's Day, it doesn't have to be the usual roses and chocolates. Here are my top six suggestions, each special in their own way, and some gift guide ideas of where you can source them from! I'd feel so valued if I got 1 and 3, how about you? Yes, my tongue is well and honestly in my cheek a bit, but also, uh, well there's a bird skull by my back door, and the rafters of my garage are full of drying things from the garden, so #skullsandtwigsforlife?
What about those pebbles, twigs and bones?Well if you can't find your own (or aren't able to go on a walk together so you can stop at nice pebbles to admire, and point out strange twigs in their natural habitat) here are some ideas.
At the end of the day, if you want to do Valentine's Day, the best thing to give is whatever shows your loved ones how much you understand and value them - which means the "perfect" gift could be a tea cosy, or the traditional massive bunch of red roses.
The perfect gift for me, hmm, is there a way to make a cookie shaped like a skull? Do share in the comments if you know great makers and small businesses who could be equally at home alongside this list!

Shopping online is something we've all become much more comfortable with, but we're also increasingly aware of problems with multinational companies, and how important it is for our money to support local businesses. So how can you easily browse online, and know that you're shopping and spending locally?
I sort of made someone cry recently, and that folks, is why I'm issuing a bit of a heartfelt plea as we head up to Christmas in 2020. Give this vlog a watch and you may understand. Even if it's just one gift this year, take a couple of clicks to pick up something from a small business, not a mass retailer. Join the just a card (or brooch, or socks...) movement.
