"I am exhausted from living up to your expectations." OK, I may not be exhausted, but recreating the stunning masquerade ball jewellery worn by Sarah in the film Labyrinth was certainly quite a challenge!
Happily, it did very much live up to the expectations of Ben and Alicia, who had requested the pieces. So how did I create these surprisingly complex earrings and necklace? I'm so very proud, I'm going to share a bit of behind the scenes, how it was made - Prepare for double sided tape, complex line diagrams, and sparkle!

I was recently asked on twitter "Could you design a logo?" and as I'm very able to do that, and the request was from a community focused archaeology group - the answer was yes!
MBArchaeology are responsible for the Roman Southwell community project: a cracking project to find out more about he Roman settlement of Southwell, while also involving the local community in the immediate project and beyond.
My first thought was one which Matt agreed with right away - a Roman and an archaeologist, linked by a member of the community. Reflects the cause, recognisable, and easy to use for a range of purposes.
I like little side projects like this which veer me away from polymer clay and beads, but it has made me think twice about a logo of my own... time for some re-branding perhaps?...
A crafts-person knows they are getting their craft right when people are willing to trade their hard earned cash for what the crafts-person has crafted.
A crafts-person knows they are getting the details right, from the designing to the making to the branding to the packaging and the customer service, when people are willing to trade their time for no personal gain, and let other folks know how much they liked it. I'm feeling a bit warm and fuzzy today, as gifts evidently given over Christmas are now receiving feedback in my Etsy store. :) |
