Celebrating (and learning) from 10 years selling online!

You can do a lot in ten years, like half raise a child or get through both junior and high school, but I'm celebrating 10 years of selling jewellery online to lovely peeps. May not sound like much alongside those other things, but it means a lot to me, and oh wow, you can learn a lot in that time!

February 17th 2023 marks ten years of Perfidious Jewellery  being on Etsy, after I decided to give up building my own online store and use a ready made platform (it was a chunk more complex setting your own thing up in 2013 than it is today)

A massive thank you for being along on this journey with me, whenever you joined in, and if you wondered, I have a few lessons learnt and some fun facts for you...

Lessons learnt

1. Getting happy reviews still makes a maker's heart ping every time. 💖
2. No matter how crystal clear you think your images, text, and description are, someone is always capable of misunderstanding. 🤣
3. Never underestimate the usefulness of easy to track metrics. It's dull, but really key to smart choices. I don't pay enough attention to mine. 😬
4. Comparison honestly can be the thief of joy, but it can also give you great ideas to nick (hello, ways to set out my item descriptions)
5. "My pictures are awesome!" <-> "My pictures suck". You're never off this rollercoaster of product photography.🎢 

Fun facts

1. I'm still not sure why, but the most viewed and favourited item in my shop is Scarab beetle pins!
2. What have the most people actually purchased and worn though?... Silver plated skull and rose pins. 💀
3. From 2020 to 2022 there were 55% more visits to my online store! (Didn't mean 55% more sales, but wow, that's a lot of people looking)
4. I've sent jewellery to about 13 different countries, including Japan, Australia, Finland, across Europe, loads of bits of Canada... 🌍
5.  …and to about 17 different states in the USA - my first online sale was actually to Sierra Vista, Arizona.🌎

It's been an awesome time, and I've met some great people thanks to things like the Nottingham Etsy Team, and learnt a lot which isn't just relevant to jewellery and small biz (like how some things, ya just gotta shrug off)

The next ten years? Well I've no idea what my plan is for this year! I'll be honest, it's a huge slump at the moment for small biz peeps, which makes it a bit hard to look ahead, but you can bet I'll always be making cool stuff, and trying to convert people to good tea, black cats, yellow and skulls!

The Campaign must be entered by following the social media channel, commenting,  tagging another user, liking or retweeting the give away post as instructed for each give away. The entry must fulfil all Campaign requirements, as specified, to be eligible to win a prize. Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified.

The Winners of the Campaigns (the “Winner”) will receive via post one coloured howlite skull stick pin as seen at https://www.etsy.com/shop/PerfidiousJewellery?section_id=24553097. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted. The prize is non transferable. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation any and all taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of Winner.

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received

Winners will be selected from qualifying entries by a random drawing. Winner will be notified by social media messaging where available, or being tagged in a post, within one day following selection of Winner. Perfidious Jewellery shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, or fails to claim the prize within 7 days from the time award notification was sent, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected.

Perfidious Jewellery reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Campaign should virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond Perfidious Jewellery ’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Campaign. In such case, Perfidious Jewellery may select the Winner from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by Perfidious Jewellery. Perfidious Jewellery reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Campaign or website or violates these Terms & Conditions. Perfidious Jewellery has the right, in its sole discretion, to maintain the integrity of the Campaign, to void votes for any reason, including, but not limited to: multiple entries from the same user from different IP addresses; multiple entries from the same computer in excess of that allowed by Campaign rules; or the use of bots, macros, scripts, or other technical means for entering. Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Campaign may be a violation of criminal and civil laws. Should such attempt be made, Perfidious Jewellery  reserves the right to seek damages to the fullest extent permitted by law.

Information submitted with an entry will only be used to send the winner their prize, and then the information will be destroyed.
