I’m lucky in that living with an author, not only do I get to read my book collection, and his book collection, I also beta read his work as he writes it. Matt’s debut fantasy novel, Legacy of Ash, was published by Orbit in April, and it’s been very well reviewed and received. But don’t take my word for it…

What’s Legacy of Ash about?

Leaving aside the schemes, families, war, gods, I’d say a key element is how almost every character is, at some point, faced with decisions about who they are, who they want to be, and what has made them the way they are. In light of new information, do you carry on, or harden, or change? Can you change how others perceive you? A lot of readers have quickly found a favourite character, as we may not have to make decisions which impact nations, but can totally empathise with how their personal struggles are written.

A shadow has fallen over the Tressian Republic.

Viktor Akadra is the Republic's champion. A warrior without equal, he hides a secret that would see him burned as a heretic. Josiri Trelan is Viktor's sworn enemy. A political prisoner, he dreams of reigniting his mother's failed rebellion. I wanted to make myself a fancy bookmark when I re-read Legacy of Ash as a physical book, having previously read it as an ebook. Why stop at making one?... I carried on and the giveaway bookmarks are inspired by three characters, Ashana,  the Raven and Viktor - two gods with their own flaws, and a mortal man you can't help but root for, but occasionally want to shout at as you watch his decisions. 

With my creative juices flowing, there’s now a range of bookmarks available on my online shop, so you can treat your favourite read to a suitably impressive place holder.

The Campaign must be entered by following the social media channel, commenting,  tagging another user, liking or retweeting the give away post as instructed for each give away. The entry must fulfil all Campaign requirements, as specified, to be eligible to win a prize. Entries that are incomplete or do not adhere to the rules or specifications may be disqualified.

The Winners of the Campaigns (the “Winner”) will receive via post a paperback copy of the book and one random bookmark from those pictured. No cash or other prize substitution shall be permitted. The prize is non transferable. Any and all prize-related expenses, including without limitation any and all taxes, shall be the sole responsibility of Winner.

The odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received

Winner will be selected by a random drawing. Winner will be notified by social media messaging where available, or being tagged in a post, within one day following selection of Winner. Perfidious Jewellery shall have no liability for Winner’s failure to receive notices due to spam, junk e-mail or other security settings or for Winner’s provision of incorrect or otherwise non-functioning contact information. If Winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, or fails to claim the prize within 7 days from the time award notification was sent, the prize may be forfeited and an alternate Winner selected.

Perfidious Jewellery reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Campaign should virus, bug, non-authorized human intervention, fraud, or other cause beyond Perfidious Jewellery ’s control corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, or proper conduct of the Campaign. In such case, Perfidious Jewellery may select the Winner from all eligible entries received prior to and/or after (if appropriate) the action taken by Perfidious Jewellery. Perfidious Jewellery reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers or attempts to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the Campaign or website or violates these Terms & Conditions.
