Beware the fake awards!

I created it myself, isn't it pretty? This is a bit of a tongue in cheek thing, because oh wow, there are some people making easy money from things like this, and it's worth being aware of - Both if you want to buy from small businesses, or run your own.

As wedding fair season seems to have dubious people spamming emails, and after a jocular exchange with Bad Squiddo Games, here's a reminder that a lot of small business owners are contacted with the opportunity to enter "awards" with:
- Entry fee(s) 💰
- No named judges ❓❓❓
- Spurious perks (My logo on a website, ok, and who uses that website?...)
- Fees for the certificate PDF/logos/etc 💸

It's pretty much just about making someone money. For what it recognises, you and your mates could simply make a fancy looking logo and award it to each other. (go on, save the once I've made below and add your own text!)

There are definitely valid awards out there for both businesses and individuals, which one can be nominated for or put oneself forwards for, and yes these often ask for payment if there's an optional awards dinner or flashy trophy. But usually a legit award will have clarity on what the standards for success are, who is judging it, and will give winners at least a basic logo or certificate for free.
