Skulls are a theme which run through many of my jewellery designs, and sorry to broach this, but you're going to die, I'm going to die, and that's what Memento Mori is about. Now let me explain why this isn't a bad thing...
Roses and skulls, entwined together in nature - A reminder to live and love well, for death greets us all!
Add a little gothic romance to your look with this memento mori jewellery . Beautiful and detailed enough as a delicate touch for special occasions, yet subtle enough for everyday wear. Available as sets, or the necklace and earrings separately, and a choice of 31 accent colours.
I'm really looking forward to taking my wares to my first ever wedding fair on March 3rd, and two of you will be coming with me!
Well, not exactly with me, but I have two tickets to give away, so you can go with your other half, mate of honour, or whomever you want to explore with.
All you need to do is head to the Tying the Nott post on my instagram feed, give me a follow, and comment on the post with your dream wedding theme. Tying the Nott is an event all about those different details, from the bright to the dark.
You can enter from when the post is live on January 26th to midnight January 1st - and after then I'll pick and notify a winner at random to get their two tickets.
Spending five months sewing something which could have been done in a week may sound like a bit of a craft fail, but over 2018 I discovered the joy of taking my time over a creative project.
A few months into 2018, and my creative spark wasn't firing. You might know this itchy feeling yourself. Drawing was frustrating, making jewellery for myself wasn't fun, other possible projects felt uninspiring. It was an upsetting place to be in as someone who deems themselves to be a creative person.
My husband hit the nail on the head in July "Why don't you do a longer project, one you can work on a bit at a time and create a bigger result?". I realised that I'd been trying quick fixes, so no wonder they weren't satisfying my creative needs!
It's the end of the year, so pretty much anyone with instagram is sharing their best nine of 2018 - that's their nine images with the most likes. So these aren't really their best things, just their popular things. Yay for social media popularity...?
Having seen Mike of The Crafty Gentleman share an illustration of his top nine memories of the year, inspired by illustrator Abbie Paulhus, it seemed like a great idea to look back on 2018 and catalogue what I feel are the best bits for me.
This isn't about likes, this is about what I feel proud of or have happy memories of, and it's a fantastic exercise to do.
Celebrate your own 2018, not what other people liked about the photogenic parts.
In no particular order other than how I decided to draw them:
Orders placed December 18th to January 1st will be processed from January 2nd 2019- So you can place your order and wait for the pleasant surprise to arrive, and cheer you up in the cold and grey New Year!
I'll be enjoying myself redecorating my bathroom, and probably having a few stiff drinks, while I question my decision to redecorate my bathroom just before Christmas. I'm also spending time with my husband, so do keep an eye on Perfidious Jewellery on social media, as we may be working on a silly and fun project between us, assuming we don't stop talking to one another as a result...
If you want to order something in time for Christmas, make sure you're aware of my recommended dates!
You want to see your friends and family successful in their small business endeavors, but it’s not always easy supporting them. Time, money, energy, all things we don't have much of... But there are lots of different ways you can help, so it may be easier than you think! You may not have the money to spend, or perhaps don't need what they provide, or live too far away to make use of them. But whether your friends and family are illustrators and creators, the car fixers or plasterers, the people who do tattoos or hair, the independent shop owners, the cake bakers and caterers, you can support their small business in quite a few simple ways.
Read on for the ideas in full! (and to find out what makers I've snook into this picture)
I know it's November, but December will soon be here, and supporting independent traders means a little extra planning goes a long way - I don't have access to a huge team of elves and a distribution center!
Orders placed after these dates might still arrive for Christmas... but it's always better to be safe than sorry!
Dates are based on my order times, plus Royal Mail's recommended latest posting dates for First Class and International Standard - I can post using faster services on request, for an additional postage fee, please just ask.
International orders are always potentially subject to delays due to customs in the country of delivery, although I provide all the details I can in your package to speed up this process. Of course, there can also be delays out of my control and the postal services, with bad weather or strike action.
The weather has turned chilly, the evenings grow dark, so how about some giveaways to brighten October up a bit?! You could also cheer up a friend if you win!
I’m a fan of Halloween (and also of being subtly creepy all year round) so in the run up to this year, I’m holding three different giveaways on a Halloween theme, with skulls and black cats. Each giveaway is for two pieces of jewellery, so you can keep them yourself, or share and become Halloween buddies with a familiar.
So no-one is left out, I’ll do one giveaway each on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, meaning that wherever you follow me you’ll get a chance to enter – Or find and follow me on multiple channels to join in each giveaway.
October 1st – 5th Pop to Instagram, follow me by liking www.instagram.com/perfidiousjewellery, and just tag your best ghoulfriend or zomboy on the giveaway post. Winner of the two skull pins will be announced on October 6th.
October 8th–12th Find me on Facebook, follow me by liking www.facebook.com/PerfidiousJewellery, and comment on the giveaway post with who your magical familiar is. Winner of the black cat earrings and necklace will be announced on October 13th.
October 15th – 19th Find me on twitter, follow me by liking twitter.com/Perf_Jewellery and just retweet the giveaway post. Winner of the skull pin and necklace will be announced on October 20th.
These are all open worldwide, wherever you are, I’ll pop things in the post to you! After midnight GMT on each closing date, I’ll pick a winner at random, and then announce it and contact the winner (where messaging allows it!) on the following day.
So come and say hi on social media, and get ready for some spooky freebies!
