Mention Castle Donington and most people think of Download, the race track or the airport – but it’s well worth a visit for the array of independent shops and fab food and drink spots.
You’d be forgiven for assuming that Castle Donington is four pubs, a garage and the Co-op, as the real village centre is uphill on Borough Street, hidden away from the main road. Here, sitting proud in lavender tones and packed with treasures, you’ll find The Two Birds Gallery.
I try to pop in whenever up in the village, and there's always something that catches my eye - it's become one of my top spots for buying decent birthday cards!
A better location also means workshops and in house services such as fixing up your struggling sewing disasters. I'm yet to be free at the same time as a workshop, but am keeping a keen eye out for their next "make your own knickers" sewing workshop! For those who want to give something new a try, pick up one of their boxed kits for to make yourself a project at home.
